Blepharoplasty ( Lid skin surgery )

What is blepharoplasty?

There are various factors, apart from getting older, causing a gradual laxity and ageing appearance of the eyelids (sun exposure, environmental factors, physical and mental stress etc.). These are the causes of the well-known ‘bags’ around the eyes, especially on the lower lid but sometimes on the upper as well. During blepharoplasty, sagging skin is removed from the surface of the eyelids, along with adjacent fat in certain cases. The result is ‘tightening’ of the area and improved cosmetic appearance, so people look younger!

The operation is carried under local anaesthetic and usually lasts about 20-30 minutes per eyelid. The sutures used are very small and usually invisible to the naked eye. Sutures are usually removed after a week.

Dr George Kampougeris will discuss with you the possibility for blepharoplasty in your case and perform the operation for you.
